Lucas Arts is dead, and the source code for Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast has since been released to the public. While I look forward to seeing what modders can do now that they can get a proper look under the hood, in the meantime, we’ve assembled a list of some of the best mods that have come out for the game over the years.

Enjoy, and let us know what your favorite Jedi Oucast mods are in the comments, below!
5. Dark Origins Total Conversion
This total conversion has you playing as Darth Maul through a rewritten story featuring new voice acting and dialogue. It includes new damage effects, new skins, modifications to NPCs, and more. The story is not one of Evil vs. Good, but rather Evil vs. Evil — but don’t worry; a few innocent Jedi do get destroyed along the way.

4. Enyak’s Mutilator (Saber-cutoff limbs)
There really isn’t much to say about this mod that isn’t in the title — it allows you to slice off limbs, cut off heads, and rip bodies in half. As the mod description reads, “Time to slice ‘n dice!” It should be noted that this mod only works in singleplayer, and that while limbs aren’t always severed, it happens fairly regularly.

3. Episode 3: A Jedi’s Worst Fear (SE)
While not actually a total conversion, this mod does contain of host of features. Primarily, the mod replaces character models to those of the era of Episode 3 — Luke is Yoda, Desann is Count Dooku, Jan is Padme, Kyle is Anakin, Tavion is Boba Fett, and the rank-and-file enemies are appropriate replaced, as well. Apart from that, the mod includes new saber sounds, a new menu, new start up screen, new HUD, new saber hilts, and more.

2. ForceMod II – The Mercs Strike Back
This mod adds a grappling hook, a jetpack, a flame gauntlet, cloaking for Mercs, Optic Radar, dual pistols, a new class system, and dozens of other features. Mercs don’t get all the fun, though — players can wield both Dark and Light force powers, and there are four levels of Force. Further, an enhanced lightsaber combat system allows players to fight with dualblades and twin sabers, as well as customizable blade types. Bot improvements, admin commands, bug fixes and balance changes… it would take you longer to read all of this mod’s features than to download and install it.

If you are a multiplayer gamer, then this mod is an absolute must.
